Eve Fiction

Ch-ch-changes

by Wanoah on Feb.26, 2009, under Site News

If you’re a regular visitor, you will notice that Eve fiction has changed. It has been migrated from the Joomla! CMS to plain ole’ WordPress.

Originally, Eve Fiction kicked off with a small group of people to run the place. A full-featured CMS with community-building features made sense. Now, though, it’s just me on my lonesome, and most of the ideas we started out with have been left by the wayside in favour of the core product: our stories. I was never happy with the way I’d had to hack the Joomla! code to get things working, and the prospect of updating it to a newer version filled me with horror as I knew that I’d have to not only upgrade, but then manually hack through the code again with each new release.

WordPress is nice and simple for editing and publishing text, so hopefully it should work out a bit better.

It’s not all finished yet. I moved over the stories from the old site, but I need to edit each one to remove some crap that Joomla! left in there, and I need to add the original authors’ names. Then there may be some layout tweaks and and a new logo to create.
